Resident Social Work is the focal activity of GMI to accomplish its vision, “A fully reached nation with an indigenous community in every village.” It is a community development programme in the unreached villages. Primarily, the location is identified, then, a social worker is commissioned and posted in that location. The Community Development Programme is one of the important activities of the GMI. Presently, this work is carried out in 456 villages of 14 States of India, Kerala, Tamilnadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telungana, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Maharashtra, Himachal Pradesh, Tripura, Punjab and Jammu-Kashmir. This work is done through social workers and several volunteers. In connection with this programme, the GMI also takes part in conducting projects such as women empowerment, health awareness, educational, among children as well as youth for promoting community development concerns. Offering family counselling for women and children to those who are mentally retarded is considered the foremost towards betterment of socially impaired. Campaigns are also arranged against drug use and alcoholism. Moreover, free vocational training programmes are also offered in tailoring and computer. Sewing machines are distributed to the economically poor candidates once they successfully complete tailoring programme. Supplying study materials, Mobile phones etc are the other allied concerns that GMI undertakes in terms of its developmental programmes. The social workers also get acquainted with the local people and conduct house to house visits, pray for the needs, pray for the sick and subsequently, prayer cells will be formed in houses where they are welcomed. Eventually these prayer cells will be turned to worshiping communities. Then, according to the availability of the land and resources, a prayer shed will be constructed in village fashion. Gradually it may turn to a hall in indigenous style. These social workers are working in 14 States of India and the neighbouring countries: Nepal, Bhutan and Bangladesh. At present, a total number of 1600 villages are concentrated by these social workers. Now (2022) GMI has 116 such social workers and 324 congregations.
